Narrator Jack- The grown-up Jumpin' Jack Flash, looking back over the Sixties with a wry and affectionate eye as he tells it like it was.
- Jumpin' Jack Flash
- A lovable East End rogue and would-be Svengali, always ready with a cheeky line while keeping his eyes open for the payday which never really comes.
- Jude
- Talented, ambitious and hungry for fame, Jude comes to London from Liverpool, looking for a way to escape the nine-to-five routine of factory life by becoming an internationally famous pop star.
- Lady Jane
- The queen of the Carnaby Street groupies, Lady Jane is wild, debauched and beautiful aristocrat who has turned her back on the privileges and traditions of her upbringing in favour of the sex, drugs and rock'n'roll of Sixties' Soho.
- Wild Thing
- Living the rock'n'roll lifestyle to the max, this talented guitarist helps Jude take his initial steps on the road to fame and also takes a shine to Penny Lane.
- Penny Lane
- A tough talking cookie with a warm heart, Jude's best friend travels down to London to keep a watchful eye on him.
- Lily the Pink
- An outrageous, cross-dressing couturier with a shop in Carnaby Street, who takes Jude under his/her wing and helps him on his way to stardom.
- Arnold Layne
- The flamboyant drug- and sex-obsessed owner of the record label that signs Jude. Living unashamedly large and loud, he is the biggest swinger in swinging London.
- Terry the Pill
- Public schoolboy turned drug dealer who remains a shadowy problem in Lady Jane's life.
