The Swinging Sixties will return to Carnaby Street and the surrounding area this weekend (13-14th June) with ‘Swinging Carnaby’, a weekend of live music, exhibitions, pop up shops and promotions, as part of the Mayor’s ‘Story Of London’ initiative.
Amongst the free activities on offer will be complimentary Sixties’ eye makeovers at M.A.C. and Pix!; Sixties’ styling at The Beauty Lounge in Kingly Court; a display of archive collections from Lee Jeans and Fred Perry; an exhibition of limited edition Sixties’ prints from celebrated photographer Philip Townsend at 29 Foubert’s Place; iconic album cover artwork at Art Vinyl in Kingly Court; Sixties-themed pop up shops from the London College Of Fashion and Barnardo’s; and much more.
Plus anyone named Jimi or Janis who visits La Trouvaille in Newburgh Street over the weekend will be given a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate the legend that the Woodstock festival was conceived in the building!
