Four years in the making, the British Music Experience at London’s O2 Arena is well worth a visit for anyone with an interest in the history of popular music in the UK. The exhibition covers a wide array of music genres, from 1945 to the present day, combining state of the art audio-visual technology with an impressive collection of memorabilia.
Music can be downloaded from the BME archive and visitors can make their own music live in the Gibson Interactive Studio, where they can play a variety of Gibson guitars, Baldwin pianos and Slingerland drums.
The Sixties’ section in particular is full of fascinating information and objects, from the original booking diary from the Marquee club in 1962 to the costumes Dusty Springfield wore on her TV shows.
