Sixties Happenings - The Beatles Appear at the Movieum

The Getty Images Gallery is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Beatles’ last live performance on the roof of the Apple Building in London’s Savile Row by showcasing an exhibition of rare images of the group taken between 1963 and 1970.

The collection is on display at the new permanent Getty Images photographic exhibition space at the Movieum of London and shows a variety of informal behind-the-scenes shots of the Beatles, taken on tour and during the filming of ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, ‘Help!’ and ‘Magical Mystery Tour’. As well as the photographs, there is a selection of Beatles memorabilia on show, including one of John Lennon’s Rickenbacker guitars (now owned by producer Pete Waterman), and a recreation of a Sixties’ living-room.

Framed and unframed prints from the collection are available for purchase and the exhibition runs until 30th June 2009 at the Movieum in London’s County Hall, an interactive movie museum which takes visitors behind the scenes of some of the world’s best loved films.
